We have a sustained commitment to continuing education, and are active participation in various associations and organizations related to the forestry, appraisal, and real estate professions.
We are optimistic about the relationship between man and our renewable resources. We hold onto and project the principle of plenty as opposed to one of scarcity. A forest analysis is often the
first step a landowner takes to ensure maximizing the benefits available to him from his
forest. Although a forest analysis can be tailored to a variety of uses, it is most
commonly used for providing a basis for evaluating the present conditions of the forest
and presents the reasoning for making specific management recommendations. It could
commonly be referred to as a detailed forest management plan. It is one of the most
informative and useful services we provide.
A typical forest analysis is presented in a formal, narrative report that describes the
property in relation to the factors affecting value of the surrounding area, describes the
property including topography and soils, ecology, vegetative conditions, detailed timber
stand and volume tables, past growth, estimated future growth, individual timber stand
conditions and recommendations, financial analysis of recommendations, and discussions of
how recommendations will affect biodiversity, wildlife, soils and water, and esthetics.
The forest analysis is a relatively low-cost investment many landowners make that provides
specific information that can be used for a number of years as a guide for timing and
amount of income and costs. It can be periodically updated on an as-needed basis as
changes occur in the forest.
Land and timber appraisals are necessary for purchases, borrowing money, estimating net worth, estate taxes, damage estimates, divisions, condemnations, etc. Steven K. Templin, President of Templin Forestry, Inc. and Louisiana Forestry Investments, Inc. is a Louisiana State Certified General Appraiser. Our appraisal practice specializes in estimating the value of forested properties. As a certified appraiser, a consulting forester, and a real estate broker, Mr. Templin is highly regarded as an appraiser and an expert witness.

The markets for timber are irregular and unstructured when compared to markets for other commodities. Many factors may influence the price you can get for your timber. Such things as timber quality and accessibility are obviously important. Other factors such as timing of the sale and a dependable reputation with timber buyers are quite often of far greater importance in obtaining best prices.
Our marketing techniques and our credibility with the buyers will insure you get a full price for your timber.
Templin Forestry can get more money for your timber and leave your forest in a more productive condition. From the sale, to supervision of the harvesting, we handle everything.
A successful forest management
endeavor requires a persistent effort in order to monitor changes in the forest and market
conditions and to capitalize on available opportunities. Long term management services
typically include the preparation of a forest management plan designed to achieve your
goals; periodic inspections of the forest to supervise on-going projects, identify
problems, maintain familiarity with the forest; frequent communication with you to review
work done, work in progress, planning future work, guidance in tax matters, providing
information regarding government programs that may be available to you; providing timber
marketing services, and supervision of management activities, such as tree planting,
timber harvesting, site preparation, etc.
Long term forest management services essentially mean that you have access to us regarding
our expertise on any forestry related issues. We are dedicated to promoting continuing
education in forestry and maintain an extensive research library. Our well-rounded
knowledge stems from 17 years of practical experience and hard work, as well as from
keeping abreast of the evolving science of forestry.

Tree planting is sometimes needed
during the renewal of a stand of trees. Templin Forestry has a long history of providing
these services on a contract basis to clients. Tree planting services have evolved to
selection of the various seedling genetics available from nurseries, organizing delivery
of the seedlings, care of seedlings prior to planting, and ensuring planting procedures
are correctly followed. Since this work is seasonal, it falls under the regulations of the
Department of Labor. We are a certified Seasonal and Migrant Labor Contractor and protect
you from having any liabilities associated with having laborers work on your forest.
Although planting a crop is not without its risks, we do our utmost to see that the work
is done right.

Herbicide Consulting & Application
Herbicide applications are often
the most cost effective and environmentally sound methods of controlling unwanted
vegetation in a stand of trees. We have extensive experience and knowledge about which
chemicals are appropriate in any given case, what application method is best, and which
application contractors are reliable. We work with chemical representatives and can often
get guarantees from them as well as the best chemical prices. We are licensed pesticide
applicators and have extensive knowledge in this area.

Sometimes clients need
miscellaneous services done in the forest such as boundary line painting, help on insects
or disease, tax information, or any number of forestry related assistance. We can supply
